In short

Baluna has no accounts, no server with your data and does not track you. By default your expenses, categories and chats with the assistant are processed and stored only on your device. The one exception is Cloud mode, which you enable yourself with your own API key.

What data the app processes

Expenses, categories, chat history, receipt photos and settings are stored in the app's local database on your phone. In local mode the language model runs on the device - the conversation is not sent anywhere.

What leaves your device

Model download. On first launch the app downloads the model file from Hugging Face servers. It is a plain file download - it contains none of your data.

Reports. If you send a bug report or a suggestion from the "Report a bug or idea" screen, we pass on exactly what you type (title, description, optionally a screenshot and an e-mail address) plus the app version, OS and device model. Reports go to the app's author and are kept until the matter is resolved. They never contain your expenses or chat history.

Cloud mode (optional). If you enable Cloud mode in settings and enter your own API key for OpenAI or Ollama Cloud, chats marked as cloud send the conversation, the expenses you ask about (amounts, categories, notes) and receipt photos, if attached, to the chosen provider. The connection goes directly from your phone to the provider - Baluna has no proxy server, does not see this data and does not store it off the device. The API key is stored only on the phone. The data reaches the provider under your agreement with them; before first use the app shows exactly what will be sent and asks for consent. You can turn Cloud mode off and delete the key at any time.

Subscription. Payment is handled by the App Store or Google Play on your store account. Baluna never sees payment details; it only learns whether the subscription is active.

What we do not do

We use no analytics or advertising tools, do not profile you, and do not sell or share data with third parties.

Your rights and data deletion

You delete local data by uninstalling the app or clearing its data in system settings. To have a sent report deleted, write to [CONTACT].
